A rental booking needs to reserve a real item or quantity for a defined period. Availability must include any turnaround time for inspection, cleaning or preparation between customers.
Deposits should be recorded separately from rental income and handled through an appropriate payment process. Handover and return reports can link dated observations and photographs to the booking. A damage report is evidence for review, rather than an automatic decision that the customer owes a charge.
Test early returns, extensions and an item removed from service after damage. Staff need to see which future bookings may be affected. Define dispute and deposit-release procedures before launch, so the software supports an agreed rental process rather than making financial decisions from a photograph alone.
